Identity Fraud

The Directors and staff of Bank of Walker County respect your privacy. We recognize and accept our responsibility to maintain all information about you and your business affairs in strictest confidence.

We share your nonpublic information with service provider vendors to process your transaction account activity and to render periodic statements of this activity. We share your nonpublic information with vendors hired by and under contract with us to provide the tools necessary to facilitate your banking. i.e., personal/business check printer vendors, and the service provider vendors for ATM/Master Debit Card issuance or problem solving.

We share nonpublic customer information with recognized legal entities when we are required by law to do so. We share nonpublic customer information with collection companies we hire to collect delinquent monies owed to us. Unless you notify us in writing not to, we will share your nonpublic information with nonaffiliated vendors we hire to help us keep you informed of new/different products or services we are offering.


Maintaining the security and confidentiality of customer information is a top priority for us at Bank of Walker County. We want you to understand what information we collect and how we use it. Bank of Walker County has adopted the following privacy policy regarding the collection, use, retention and security of your personal and financial information.

Bank of Walker County does not sell customer information to anyone. In certain circumstances we may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to third parties to assist us in servicing your loan or account with us, to governmental entities in response to subpoenas, and to credit bureaus.

We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information to anyone, except as permitted by law.

If you decide to close your account(s) or become an inactive customer, we will continue to adhere to the privacy policies and practices described in this notice.

Non-public Personal Information and Nonaffiliated Third Parties 

We may disclose nonpublic personal information to nonaffiliated third parties for the purpose of assisting in our offer to you of new/different products or services. The following is an example of the kind of nonpublic personal information we disclose to nonaffiliated third parties:

Types of Nonaffiliated Third Parties- We may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to the following types of nonaffiliated third parties:

  • Financial service providers, such as data processor, personal/business check vendor.

Reasons for Disclosing - Here is why we may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to nonaffiliated third parties:

  • To provide our customers with information about additional Bank of Walker County products and services.

  • For daily processing of checks/deposits to your account(s), for statement processing, for issuance or problem solving with regard to your ATM/Master Debit Card.

Limitations on Disclosure - Here are the limitations we impose on the use of nonpublic personal information disclosed to nonaffiliated third parties:

  • We only allow direct mail solicitations of Bank of Walker County products

  • We do not allow telephone solicitations from outside marketers

  • We require that our nonaffiliated third party vendors adhere to our privacy guidelines, i.e.,: no information on any of our customers may be shared with any outside company.

Our Security Procedures

We also take steps to safeguard customer information. We restrict access to your personal and account information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. Employees who violate these standards will be subject to disciplinary measures. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information.

For purposes of this privacy policy, the following terms will have the meanings indicated:

"Nonpublic personal information" is nonpublic information about you that we obtain in connection with providing a financial product or service to you. For example, nonpublic personal information includes information regarding your account balance, payment history and overdraft history. Nonpublic personal information does not include information that is available from public sources, such as telephone directories or government records.

When we use the words "you" and "your" we mean the following types of customers:
All of our consumer customers who have a continuing relationship with us such as:

  • Deposit Account
  • Loan Account
  • Credit Card
  • Safe Deposit Box

All persons (individuals) who do not have a continuing relationship with us but who may use a financial product or service we provide in isolated transactions. This includes, for example, someone who:

  • Purchases traveler's checks or money orders
  • Applies for a loan that is either withdrawn or declined
  • All former customers

"We" , "our" , and "us" means Bank of Walker County.

An "affiliate" would be a company we own or control, a company that owns or controls us and a company that is owned or controlled by the same company that owns or controls us. Ownership does not mean complete ownership, but means owning enough to have control.

A " nonaffiliated third party" is a company that is not an affiliate or ours but a company hired by or under contract to us to facilitate a service.

"Opt out" means a choice you can make to prevent certain sharing of information. We will explain how you can exercise this choice.

If you share your account relationship with someone else, for example when you are a co-borrow or joint holder of a checking account, we suggest that you share this information with each other to ensure that each of your are aware of our policy and your options.

INTERNET PRIVACY NOTICE

Personal Information Collected

Our website does not collect personal identifying information about you except when specifically and knowingly provided by you. Once you have provided personal identifying information, it will be used for the purpose as described at the point of data collection. All such information will then be subject to the provisions of our Privacy Notice.

General Information Collected

For each visitor to our web pages, our web server automatically recognizes a user's software information, such as domain name (i.e., aol.com, msn.com), browser and operating system without identifying the user. We also aggregate information on these visits to our site that tells us such things as: how many visitors we had, what sites they came from, which of our pages they visited, how long they stayed at each site, and the total time of their visits.

The general information we collect is used to analyze and improve the content of our site. It is not shared with other organizations for commercial purposes.

If you send us e-mail, your return address will be displayed in the header we receive. We will use this information to respond to your inquiry and we will keep your message as a record of our contacts. We will not share that information with outside companies or agencies unless it is necessary for us to do so in order to respond to your e-mail or carry out a request therein, or unless we are required to do so by law or court order.

Cookie Technology

Some areas of our Website may use a "cookie" stored in your computer memory. A cookie is a small piece of information which a website stores on your web browser on your PC and can later retrieve. The cookie cannot be read by a website other than the one that set the cookie. Children's Online Privacy

Because we have no way of distinguishing the age of individuals who access our website, we collect the same general information we collect from any website user as well as personally-identifiable information from individuals under the age of 14 if they provide it. If such information is received via e-mail, we will respond to the communication as warranted but only retain the information in accordance with our general information collection policy. If an individual under the age of 18 provides us with personally-identifiable information through an internet account application, the application will be declined and all related information would only be maintained as required or allowed by law.
